Meet Your Match” Ad Pits Windows Phone 8 Against iPhone 5
Microsoft’s latest Windows Phone 8 ad compares the Windows Phone 8X to theiPhone 5 and previous iPhones by showing off Live Tiles.
The new ad is part of Microsoft’s “Meet Your Match” campaign wherein Microsoft Evangelist Ben Rudolph convinces people who use other smartphones to switch to Windows Phone. The campaign is similar to the Smoked By Windows Phone campaign from earlier this year, but focuses more of showing off features instead of showing the platform’s speed in specific tasks.
In the latest ad Rudolph shows off the People Hub and Live Tiles of Windows Phone 8 to show the phone’s strengths over the iPhone. For the demo he shows how with Windows Phone he a can a tile to the Start screen that collects everything about his wife. The Live Tile not only shows her contact information, but also her latest Facebook status and info from any other social network.
After showing off the features of the OS Rudolph convinces three users to ditch their iPhones for theWindows Phone 8X by HTC. Jason, the main person involved in the ad even says he’ll cancel his order for the iPhone 5 to get the Windows Phone 8 flagship device.
The ads are arguably more interesting than the Smoked By Windows Phone ads because they focus more on showing off features that will entice users instead of speed. The platform has a number of interesting features that set it apart from iOS and Android, and finding the closest highly-rated Italian restaurant quickly is just one.
Windows Phone 8 is now available on at least two devices on Verizon, AT&T, and T-Mobile. All three carriers have a version of the Windows Phone 8X by HTC and at least one Nokia Lumia device. AT&T carries the flagship Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820 while T-Mobile and Verizon carry the Lumia 810 and Lumia 822, respectively.
