Samsung Galaxy Rush is a decently-featured smartphone released exclusively for Boost Mobile subscribers. At $149.99 off-contract, it is also one of the more affordable Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) smartphones. Not surprisingly, the low pricing comes at a cost of its own. It would be hard for users to ignore that the budget look and feel of the phone. The Galaxy Rush is a reasonably lightweight smartphone, which is made from cheaper shiny material.
Unfortunately, images and text look a bit jagged on the 3.5” WVGA display. Even when the display brightness is pushed to the maximum, the interface still looks a bit dim. The 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8655 single-core processor inside the phone is far from cutting edge and it has seen better days. General sluggishness abounds when users open certain types of apps and games, but the processor is still good enough for any basic task.
With its budget designation, it’s quite unlikely that the Rush will get a major software update to Jelly Bean (Android 4.1) OS. It comes with standard Android features, but users can’t remove any of the bloatware that has been preinstalled. But it’s a good thing that the ICS build used by the Rush is only cosmetically modified and this should ensure high compatibility with apps in Google Play store.
