Not to be outdone, HTC had reps on site hawking the new -- but currently unreleased -- HTC One smartphone at Samsung's Unpacked event in New York City tonight.
The Unpacked event was being held tonight by Samsung at Radio City Music Hall to announce its new flagship smartphone, theGalaxy S IV. HTC actually held a similar event of its own almost a month back now, but it appears that wasn't enough exposure for their new handset: there were people dressed in HTC-branded clothing showing off the new phone to those waiting in line for the Samsung event.
In a recent interview with Brighthand, HTC president of global sales Jason Mackenzie said that the company would be making a greater effort with marketing and keeping potential customers informed about their products. This move would appear to be part of that marketing push, as it was about as direct of an approach as HTC could take to reaching out to customers.
In addition to showing off the new phone, the reps were handing out branded cans of chips and fliers to pre-register for the One, which they were saying could grant customers as much as $100 off the phone once it's actually released.
