Samsung
appears to be living in a world where bigger means better in terms of
smartphones. Of course, given their success with the Galaxy Note lineup,
that statement sort of rings true. Looking forward though, it is now
looking like Samsung will be announcing two new devices that will make
the Galaxy Note II seem a bit smaller.
These new devices are the Galaxy Mega and were previously known as
the Galaxy Fonblet. According to the latest leaks, the Samsung Mega
lineup will consist of the GT-i9152 and the GT-i9200. Those devices will
have a 5.8-inch and 6.3-inch display size respectively. The interesting
part here, the 6.3-inch display was what we have previously heard for
the Galaxy Note III.
Keeping with 6.3-inches on the high-end and we also know that this will be compatible with the Samsung GamePad.
These Galaxy Mega devices are expected to be announced later in the
year and in various colors. The Galaxy Mega 5.8 (GT-i9152) is expected
to arrive around the end of May. Specifically, this one was pegged for
week 22, which would be May 27, 2013.
The Galaxy Mega 6.3 is said to be coming around the 25th week of the
year, which would mean a date of June 17, 2013. The Galaxy Mega 5.8 will
be available in white with the Galaxy Mega 6.3 arriving in black and
white. The interesting part here will be to see where these Galaxy Mega
devices will fit in with the current Samsung lineup.
We have already seen the Galaxy S, Galaxy Note and Galaxy Tab
series and this Mega line seems like it will cross over, or come close
in size to other devices. That bit seems to imply that Samsung would
have a specific purpose in mind for the Galaxy Mega devices. Time will
tell the full story, but for now it seems like these leaks are early and
we obviously still have plenty to learn.
