While the Samsung Stratosphere 2 won’t lift users off above the clouds, it isn’t without its charms. The phone is ideal for those looking a workable and solid handset with a physical slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Still embracing the plasticky-design of its predecessor, the phone doesn’t look too different compared to the original Stratosphere. Because of its slide-out physical keyboard, at 12.7mm thick, the Stratosphere 2 is slightly bulkier than its Galaxy brethrens.
Still preserving the WVGA (800 x 480) resolution, the 4” Super AMOLED display is practically similar to the one we see on the original Stratosphere. Images and text are clear enough, but they look rather unexciting up close. The 5Mp rear-facing camera is again a duplicate of the one found on the back of the original Stratosphere.
However, it’s acceptable as far as 5Mp snappers go, with detailed and vibrant images. Thankfully, the 1.2GHz dual-core processor is a huge step up from the single-core model found on the original phone. Overall, the Samsung Stratosphere 2 offers a lot for a $130 (off-contract) phone.
