Sony Xperia Z - Doing Well in Europe Despite Lack of U.S. 2013

The Sony Xperia Z may be a while from launching in the United States due to its lack of 4G LTE support in the country, but it looks like the Sony flagship is doing quite well  even without a proper U.S. launch to speak of, at least not yet.

Sony Xperia Z Doing Well in Europe Despite Lack of U.S. Launch

A report from DigiTimes claims that Sony had run out of Xperia Z stock in several countries, particularly those in Europe.  Aside from its native Japan, Sony’s Xperia Z stocks ran out in France, Germany, Hong Kong and Taiwan.  We still don’t know if this is due to the device really being that much in-demand in the aforementioned countries or if it may be due to Sony shipping a limited number of units to those markets, but it’s no simple feat to sell out one’s pipeline inventory in five major markets.
Typically, Sony releases its flagship devices first in Europe and Asia before North America, but as far as the U.S. is concerned, the unlocked Xperia ZL with similar specs but no waterproofing will be coming first to the country.  U.S. buyers do have some options, however, and those would include having the Xperia Z imported from retailers such as Negri Electronics, which offers all three color options (black, white and purple) unlocked for $771.50.  Still, the Xperia Z won’t work on 4G LTE in the States, and would only support AT&T’s 3G network and T-Mobile’s older, slower 2G network.
It’s no wonder that the Xperia Z has been a smash hit in the market, as it goes beyond the basics of a 5-inch, 1080p phone and delivers much more than that.  Its other specs include a 13-megapixel rear camera, Qualcomm’s reliable Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor and 2 GB RAM, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and, in other parts of the world, 4G LTE.  Of course, we have to mention once again that it’s waterproof and dustproof, something you can’t say about most other high-end phones out there.
