Good news (sort of) for the latter – a Chinese OEM is planning to unleash a Tabphone hybrid on the world that features a massive 32-megapixel rear-mounted camera. Not that this really takes the crown away from the 41-megapixel Nokia Pureview in any way, but as far as Tabphones go we could be in for a new king…of the megapixel hill.
While the new Tabphone from Zopo doesn’t yet have a name, what is does have is a fairly comprehensive list of specs and features that depict a machine that’s no shrinking violet in any capacity. Under the hood lies a quad-core 1.6GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, while up-front you’ll find a gigantic 5.7-inch touchscreen and another camera sensor delivering 5-megapixels.
That’s about as far as the specifics go right now, though there is one more pressing detail that in some way makes most of the above pointless…the Zopo Tabphone with no name isn’t going to find its way anywhere near the US market.
If you like the sound of what’s on offer, you’ll have to find a way of getting hold of one from China.
Nevertheless, it’s a compelling look at the way in which Tabphone and Smartphone manufacturers across the board are upping the ante like never before and delivering specs and features that are almost laughable in their OTT brilliance.
And if Zopo really is capable of releasing such a beast in early 2013 – imagine what the likes of Samsung, Apple and HTC will be coming out with next…
