These days, it seems to me that it is always smarter, faster Android phone on the horizon. And the list this month is proof of that. Since we last updated this review in mid-June, half of the phones have changed. This is because the long-awaited Samsung Galaxy S III has finally made its arrival, and now is available on every major carrier. Let's not spoil the surprise, but four of our 10 best Android phones Samsung Galaxy S IIIs-phone captured our Editors' Choice all four carriers. If you want Android 4.0, state-of-the-art hardware and cutting-edge features like voice control and facial recognition, you probably want GS3. But that's not to say that there are other top-notch features for each carrier.
Compare phones in this story alongside.
It is one of the best things about Android: Choice. The open nature of the platform means that you can find a number of Android phones from different manufacturers for each carrier. At the time of writing, there were more than 40 Android phones available on Verizon Wireless alone. According to research firm NPD, Android owned 47 percent of the U.S. smartphone market in the last quarter of 2011.
It is very much similar phones to choose from. To come up with our list of the top Android phones, we chose 2:58 winners for each of the four major carriers of our highest rated phones. And the contract-phobic, we are thrown into the best unlocked cell phone. If you are settled on Android as a mobile platform, and you're in the market for a new phone right now, these models are your best bets. But the way things are going, we can assure you that there is still a big "Droid right around the corner.
