Top 5 phone - The best camera phones

Apple iPhone 4S

We found that photos with a bright light near the edge of the image created a ‘purple haze’ style effect, which was missing from equivalent photos on the 4S. Check out the gallery below to see how the iPhone 5 camera compares with the 4S.
The camera on the iPhone 4S was a huge improvement on previous iPhones – bumping up the resolution to 8Mp, adding a fifth lens to improve picture quality and increasing the size of the aperture to help in low-light conditions – and while the iPhone 5 camera has all these features, it didn’t quite match the camera on the 4S.

Samsung Galaxy S3

Samsung’s flagship smartphone comes with an impressive 8Mp autofocus snapper, with LED flash and a range of features including geo-tagging, anti-shake and burst shot. To round-up a very impressive set of specs, the camera also records video in full HD 1080p resolution making it a fantastic all-rounder.

Sony Xperia T

As well as some very impressive specs we were pleased to see the Xperia T comes with a dedicated camera button so it will be easy to open up the camera application and you won’t have to use an onscreen button to take photos.
The Xperia T has a very impressive sounding 13Mp camera with a Sony Exmor R sensor for improving photos in low light conditions. Such a huge resolution would suggest the Xperia T is capable of taking some pretty good pictures, although as we’ve seen in the past megapixels aren’t everything when it comes to quality.
We’ll have lab results for the Xperia T soon, but in the meantime you can watch our Sony Xperia T first look review.

Nokia Lumia 920

Nokia has a good reputation for making top quality camera phones and it has brought many of its top features to its new Lumia brand. The 920 also features Pureview technology in its 8Mp autofocus camera, which includes Carl Zeiss optics, a dual-LED flash and a large aperture. A dedicated camera button means its easy and comfortable to use when taking photos and there’s an impressive range of camera options.

HTC One X

The One X has one of the most impressive feature sets of any camera phone. An 8Mp sensor comes with a 28mm lens and one of the largest apertures we have ever seen on a mobile phone – this means pictures should be detailed and the camera should do well in low light. A variable LED flash and continuous shooting mode add to the feature set making the One X sound like a very impressive bit of kit.
