Samsung has begun rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy S3 that brings an array of features and improvements to that were previously exclusive to the Galaxy Note 2.
Available right now as an over-the-air download, the update adds the Note 2’s rather excellent ‘Premium Suite’ features – 14 altogether - to the S3, making the year’s ‘best smartphone’ even better.
The highlight of these is inarguably the Multi View split-screen mode, which lets you do twice as much with your phone, whether you’re working and making a video call or playing a game while keeping an eye on the football score.
Also new is a photo-editing app called Paper Artist, Group Cast, which enables quicker and easier sharing of files with multiple contacts and a nifty little feature called Smart Rotation that uses the handset’s front-facing camera to detect the orientation of your face to adjust the screen’s angle accordingly.
Other enhancements include tweaks to the camera app. Low Light Shot, for example, helps you capture better photos in dimly lit settings. While Best Face offers the option to pick the best of our five different snaps.
Samsung has kindly made a video showcasing all the features in action. So do take a look. Owners of unlocked version of the S3 should among the first to receive the update, though contract customers are likely to face a longer wait while their networks carry out the usual compatibility tests.
