LG has confirmed plans to announce its latest flagship smartphones at the annual Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.
The South Korean tech giant, which held its cards close to the chest at this week’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas and focussed only on its home electronics range, disclosed during its press conference that a number of high-end Android-powered kits will be showcased at MWC next month as it bids to meet the rising challenge of large screen mobiles.
LG’s Senior VP of Marketing in the US, James Fisher, said: “At MWC next month, and throughout the year, we'll be bringing more tier one handsets, in various screen sizes.”
No doubt at least one of these will be a handset featuring a display in the region of five inches, to compete with fresh CES reveals, the Sony Xperia Z and the Huawei Ascend D2, as well as imminent flagship announcements from Samsung and HTC.
This is most likely to be the recently leaked Optimus G2, said to feature a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display with a 440 pixel density, a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor and a 13-megapixel primary camera.
