While the iPhone 5 is the device of choice for most Apple loyalists, the Lumia 920 and the HTC 8X are geared up to offer it some tough competition. Check out KYMI’s comparison to find out which is the best flagship of all.
iPhone 5: 123.8x58.6x7.6mm, 112g
HTC 8X: 132.4x66.2x10.1mm, 130g
Nokia has caught the tech world’s attention with the bright colours it has given the Lumia 920.While it’s inner curves soften out its edges somewhat, the phone is sturdy and durable with a quality build.
The iPhone 5 has taken on from where past generations of the handset have left off. Besides making the device slightly taller, Apple has pretty much left its design unchanged. While the tech giant is renowned for its build quality, the aluminum casing of the new iPhone has seen more than a few scratches out-of-the-box.
HTC has followed in Nokia’s footsteps and given the WP 8X the same bright, youthful colours as the Lumia 920. Sturdy and tough build wise, it is comfortable to hold thanks to its easy curves. It gains points for giving HTC’s usual aesthetic style a breath of fresh air.
All the three flagships have strong builds and good looks, making this round a draw.

Display
The Lumia 920 comes with a 4.5-inch IPS LCD curved glass touchscreen with a resolution of 1280x768 pixels and a pixel density of 332ppi. A fast refresh rate ensures that Nokia’s PureMotion HD + delivers ‘better than HD’ picture quality on the phone. Glare on the phone in bright sunlight is reduced and dark colours and contrasts are enhanced thanks to the Finnish manufacturer’s ClearBlack technology.
Apple has finally increased the screen size of its flagship, giving the iPhone 5 a 4-inch tall Retina Display. Thinner and sharper than its predecessors because of integrated touch, it offers users a resolution of 1136x640 pixels and a pixel density of 326ppi. It also boasts of 44 per cent improvement in colour saturation and reduction of glare in sunlight as compared to other iPhones.
HTC too has given its flagship a screen worth writing home about. The 8X ships with a 4.3-inch Super LCD 2 touchscreen with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels and a pixel density of 342ppi. Corning Gorilla Glass 2 protects the screen which offers some gorgeous imagery.
Though all three displays are clear, the sharpness of ClearBlack and PureMotion HD + and the crispness of Retina Display make this a draw between the Lumia 920 and the iPhone 5.

HTC has given the WP 8X 16GB of on board storage but hasn’t permitted the use of microSD cards on thephone.
With its various storage options, the iPhone 5 wins the on board memory round.
