The designer of an innovative wood encased smartphone is moving closer to finalising the project and bringing it to market.
British student Kieron-Scott Woodhouse designed the ADzero handset whilst studying at the University of Middlesex and has turned to crowd-sourcing website Kickstarter to give his idea a financial boost.
While the project itself has been in the pipeline for some time interest has stepped up a gear with the recent release of a specs list for the ADzero which suggests it could be an impressive device.
Specs include a quad-core, 1.5GHz Samsung Exynos 4 processor and 1GB of RAM, as well as 4.5-inch, 326ppi display and an 8 megapixel camera.
The ADzero is also said to feature have a 2050mAh battery and 16GB of internal storage, and will run Android Ice Cream Sandwich if and when it launches.
While these specs are certainly impressive, it is the ADzero’s looks that really make it stand out, with the beautiful, natural wooden finish of particular note.
However, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen a phone made primarily of wood. Back in April an MIT student demonstrated a DIY handset which could be built at home and featured a fascia made from laser-cut plywood.
