Acer introduces Iconia B1-A71 tablet

The Acer Iconia B1-A71

The Acer Iconia B1-A71 hasn't exactly been a well-kept secret, but today Acer finally decided to bring the device's leaky streak to an end by making it officially official. Affordability is the focus here, as the Iconia B1-A71 will be available at a price that's "less than $150," which Acer says will make a good choice for first-time tablet buyers or families looking to give a slate to a child. If you were wondering what kind of specs a sub-$150 tablet can muster, wonder no more:
  • 7-inch 1024x600 display
  • 1.2GHz dual-core Mediatek MTK8317T processor
  • 8GB storage
  • microSD card slot
  • Front-facing 0.3-megapixel camera
  • 2,710mAh battery
  • Android Jelly Bean
Those features won't exactly blow your hair back with performance, but considering the B1-A71's price, the specs are decent. The fact that it comes preloaded with Jelly Bean certainly helps to make the B1-A71 more attractive, as does the microSD slot that'll allow users to add to the 8GB of built-in storage. As far as launches go, Acer has told ABC News that the B1-A71 will be launching in Asia and South America this month. No U.S.-specific plans have been announced, but Acer is planning to roll this thing out worldwide, so there's always a chance that we could see it breach our shores. Would any of you be interested in the Acer Iconia B1-A71 if it did make its way stateside?
