Availability limited to the US so far for wireless gadget
We're excited the see the super-cool Google Nexus 4 charging orb hit the shelves. But we're a little annoyed that it's not the UK shelves. At least, not yet anyway.
The gadget has just landed on the Google Play site in the US and right now (I checked just seconds ago), it is still not available on the UK site. Now I'm pretty sure that apart from the power source, that there are no compatibility issues here. So I would guess stock issues are keeping this out of our mitts right now.
Anyway, we expect it will be offered to UK Nexus 4 owners soon enough, so with that in mind, we'd better take a closer look at it. The device is a Qi inductive charger with an angled surface (it's more of a semi-orb in truth), so you can see the screen of your Nexus 4 while it is charging wirelessly.
Oh yes, you can get a dedicated app for it too. The Battery Widget Reborn app is free and offers battery level details and more (such as how long your battery will last 'in the wild') as your phone sits cradled.
In the US, the charger sells for $59.99 and is available with a power source for north America right now. Sit tight, it will be in the UK soon enough.
